1. Set Clear Daily Limits

Begin by setting reasonable screen time goals. Use a timer or digital wellbeing app to help track how much time is spent on lessons and assignments. Having a structured schedule ensures that screen time remains focused and purposeful.

2. Take Regular Breaks

The 20-20-20 rule is a great habit: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Short breaks between study sessions reduce eye strain and help students return to tasks with better focus.

3. Create a Balanced Routine

Include offline activities such as reading physical books, drawing, or doing exercises. A well-rounded daily routine that mixes screen-based and non-screen tasks helps maintain energy and focus throughout the day.

4. Use Blue Light Filters

Digital devices emit blue light, which can affect sleep and eye comfort. Enabling blue light filters or using special screen glasses in the evening can make online study more comfortable and protect long-term eye health.

5. Prioritize Screen-Free Time

Dedicate parts of the day—such as mealtimes or an hour before bed—as screen-free zones. These breaks give the eyes and mind a chance to rest and promote better sleep and mental clarity.

6. Encourage Physical Movement

Incorporate movement into the day through stretching, short walks, or even dancing. Staying physically active offsets the sedentary nature of screen-based learning and improves focus and mood.

7. Monitor with a Friendly Eye

Parents and guardians can support learners by gently guiding screen time habits. Friendly check-ins and encouragement help create positive routines without pressure.
